Motorists are encouraged by the DVSA (Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency) to carry out a series of simple checks to cut down on the chances of their vehicle failing an MOT test.

The latest MOT testing data for Great Britain shows that around 40% of cars fail their MOT at the first attempt.
